Saints Basil and Gregory
Today is the feast day of two of the great Cappadocian Fathers, St Basil the Great and St Gregory Nazianzen. On my other site, CATHOLIC BOOKWORM, I link to two online works by Basil. The first is a collection of his ASCETICAL WORKS, and the other is a collection of his LETTERS. In addition, on this site (the one you’re currently reading), in the “Categories” box to the left, you will find a link to “BENEDICT XVI CATECHESIS” talks on the Church and the fathers; click this on and scroll down to links numbers 45-48, which deal with the two great saints. As long as you’re at it, you might just as well read numbers 49&50 as well. These are on the third great Cappadocian Father, St Gregory of Nyssa, who was St Basil’s little brother.
ARGENT BY THE TIBER gives us a nice excerpt from St Gregory Nazianzen (or, Nazianzus) on his friendship with St Basil.
Mike Aquilina of THE WAY OF THE FATHERS offers us links to some online audio of talks he gave on the saints, along with some links by other people as well.
