Calling all night owls
Tonight, like many other nights, I’m having trouble getting to sleep. Does anybody have a non-drug induced remedy? Could this be a medical condition?

Well, this is too late for last night, but you could try a warm bath, not shower. Include a few drops of lavender oil in the bath water. The proverbial warm milk. I could mail you my grade 13 calculus book. Put me to sleep no matter what time of day it was.
All teasing aside.
But if you suffer from insomnia more than just occasionally, you should consult your doctor. Bear suffers from it and he has had to train himself to relax let sleep come. (as he explains it that is both easier and harder than it sounds.)
I’ve ben an insomniac for decades. It wasn’t until about a decade ago that I realized that was my problem: prior to that, I thought everyone spent an hour or two lying awake in bed before falling asleep. I also wake up frequently in the night for no reason.
Nothing worked, and I refused to use drugs. I simply learned to relax and accept it. In time I even began to enjoy it. As I allow my mind to drift things become clearer to me, and thoughts become my only reality.
Above all, turn away from worries. If you are obsessed with falling asleep it will not come to you. Think pleasant thoughts, and enjoy your time alone with them.
A lavender bath would get me beaten up.
Bear,
This happens only occasionally.
Rob,
Having recently outgrown the need for wearing Good Nites (which made me look and feel like a big boy) water before bed is a very bad idea:)
Argent,
Reading McBrien would keep me up all night; though it is my understanding his books do wonders for the constipated.
“Heavenly Father, grant me a good night’s rest …, but if I must be wakeful, cheerful…..”
